How MindGames Works:

The preliminary qualifying phase is an online contest where general psychiatry residency programs take a timed examination. Each program must name a team of three residents who will compete. Each team will receive a special code to take the online examination. The team will answer 150 questions covering various areas in psychiatry. Each correct answer is equal to one point while each wrong answer is equal to -0.25 point. Skipped and/or unanswered questions have the same penalty of -0.25 point. Each residency team is only allowed to take exam once.   The top three residency teams with the highest score will receive a $5,000 from the APA to attend the national MindGames competition.
